Finally (!) figured out how to update OPML Editor after months of getting "cannot update because server doesn't exist" type of alerts. Thought I was dead in the water, and kind of dreaded a reinstall. But found the update code on opml.org. I know, I never looked very hard, but that's because I didn't know what was going on. Are we back in the saddle? I have ways I'd like to see the program improve, not just for blogging but as a writing platform. I do think it's a good one already; I understand Dave Winer does all his writing in OPML Editor.

So, the 6 things I'm thinking of at the moment:

1. Green on black screen, ala WriteRoom (a great minimalist word processor)

2. Easier font control (not word by word, I'd just like to easily change the screen font for the whole doc. I think I can do this with macros or something, but I'm a little busy now...)

3. Better printing control. I appreciate very much that the print command does something successful (dumps very legibly to the browser), but it's not quite Control.

4. Folding of outline heads, so that only first lines show. (You can work around by indenting the text under a heading.)

5. Join and split commands (am I overlooking them?)

6. Key commands to open to different levels: Cmd-1, Cmd-2, Cmd-3 work this way in Hog Bay Notebook
